Pricing, plan limits, and how the $2 starter assessment works
Chassly's pricing is structured to fit how people actually use the tool: a $2 one-time starter for the curious or one-off user, and monthly/annual subscriptions for owners with multiple vehicles or recurring needs. This article covers exactly what each tier includes, when each makes sense, and how upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations work.
The $2 starter assessment (Basic tier)
One-time $2 purchase. Buys you exactly one full damage assessment with all the AI analysis, cost estimates, and per-part breakdown. No subscription, no recurring charge: pay $2, run your assessment, done.
What's included: complete damage analysis, cost range, repair vs replace recommendations, severity ratings, AI-suggested follow-up reminders. What's NOT included: insurance claim guidance, DIY repair instructions, PDF report download, multi-vehicle tracking. Those unlock with Driver and Business tiers.
The Basic tier is the right choice when you have a one-off question: 'My bumper got scraped, what am I looking at?' or 'Is this hail damage worth filing for?' Pay once, get your answer, move on.
Driver tier ($5/month or $50/year)
5 assessments per month, plus the full report features: insurance claim guidance, DIY repair instructions, detailed body shop referrals with ratings and distance, 12 months of assessment history, calendar view of reminders.
Math check: $5/month is the same as 2.5 starter assessments. If you'd otherwise run more than 2 assessments per month at $2 each, Driver pays for itself. Most multi-vehicle owners and anyone tracking ongoing damage across time hit this threshold quickly.
Annual is $50, saves 17% over monthly billing if you commit upfront. Most users who try the monthly plan and stick with it past 3 months switch to annual to lock in the discount.
Business tier ($50/month or $500/year)
50 assessments per month, unlimited saved vehicles, plus everything Driver includes: PDF report export, multi-vehicle damage trends dashboard, priority body shop referrals with negotiated discounts, unlimited reminders, and unlimited notes per vehicle.
Business is targeted at fleet managers (small businesses with company vehicles), auto enthusiasts with multiple vehicles, insurance professionals running pre-claim assessments, and dealerships using Chassly as part of trade-in evaluations.
Annual is $500, same 17% savings as Driver annual. At 50 assessments/month, the cost per assessment is $1 (lower than the Basic starter price), making this dramatically cost-effective at scale.
Enterprise (custom pricing)
Larger fleets, dealership groups, and insurance partners can request enterprise pricing via the Get a Quote button on the pricing page. Enterprise includes everything in Business plus API access for integration with existing fleet management systems, dedicated account management, custom SLA, and volume pricing.
Inquiries go to sales@chassly.com and typically get a response within 1 business day. The conversation is consultative: we want to understand your volume and use case before quoting.
Upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations
Upgrading: Driver → Business, or Basic → either subscription, takes effect immediately. You're prorated for the remainder of the current billing period.
Downgrading: takes effect at the end of your current billing period (you keep the higher tier's features until then). Downgrade doesn't refund the unused portion; that's how subscription billing standardly works across SaaS.
Cancelling: takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your account remains active until then. After cancellation, you fall back to Basic tier (no recurring charge) and can still run individual $2 starter assessments.
All tier changes and cancellations happen through Stripe's Customer Portal, accessed from your /billing page. Chassly never sees or stores your payment method directly; Stripe handles all card information.
Frequently asked questions
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing mid-subscription?
Yes. Switching is a tier-change operation in Stripe; Stripe handles the proration automatically. You'll see a credit or charge for the difference applied to your next invoice.
What happens to my saved vehicles and history if I downgrade?
Vehicles and assessment history are preserved across all tier changes. If you downgrade from Business (unlimited vehicles) to Driver (5 vehicles) and have 8 vehicles saved, all 8 stay accessible, but you can't add new vehicles until you delete some to get under the new tier's limit.
Is there a free trial of Driver or Business?
Not currently. The $2 starter assessment serves as the low-commitment trial: you can experience the AI analysis and full report for $2 before deciding whether the recurring tiers fit your needs.
What payment methods does Chassly accept?
All major credit cards and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) and Apple Pay / Google Pay through Stripe Checkout. We don't currently accept bank transfers, PayPal, or cryptocurrency.
What's the difference between monthly and annual billing besides the discount?
Functionally identical: same features, same usage limits, same support. The only difference is billing frequency. Annual is 17% cheaper because Stripe transaction fees are lower per transaction, and we pass those savings on.
